    LNG in April

Every day 5 million cubic feet LNG will be given to the main grid
The construction of the pipeline is now in the final phase.
Liquidated natural gas (LNG) will start on April 25 from the floating terminal of Moheshkhali in Cox's Bazar.

The government is going ahead with the plan to provide 500 million cubic feet of gas to the main grid every day. For this, the construction of the pipeline from Maheshkhali Terminal to Chittagong is now in the final phase. By importing LNG gas from Qatar, the pipeline will be supplied by Maheshkhali Terminal.

The government has promised to meet the demand for increasing energy demand in the country, especially in the industrial sector, from the current year. The Finance Minister also mentioned this commitment in the budget speech of the current fiscal year 2007-18. He said that LNG will be imported before the gas and it will be built to keep it in a terminal at Maheskhali in Cox's Bazar. The finance minister has identified the project as the fastest-time implementation or fast-track project in the budget of LNG Terminal.

The government has approved the project under the rapid supply of electricity and fuel (special provisions) Act, 2010.
Talking to three officials of the transformed natural gas company, the work of establishing a terminal at Maheshkhali and construction of a 91-km long pipeline of 30-inch diameter up to Anwara of Chittagong was completed.

Now the work of setting up a 30-kilometer pipeline of 42-inch diameter from Chittagong City gate station in Anwara, Chittagong and Sitakunda from Anwara to Chittagong. These physical structures are planned to be completed by April next year, officials said.
Natural gas is in gases in general pressure and temperature. By decreasing the temperature by refrigeration technology, the minus is reduced to 160 degrees Celsius and it becomes liquid. This liquid natural gas is called LNG. It is possible to bring two to two and a half million or 200 to 250 cc cubic feet LNG per day in a vessel.

The government has decided to import gas from Qatar as an alternative to reducing the gas reserves in the country. This gas pipeline will be given to the main grid. This will reduce the gas-crisis in the industrial sector. In the future, the government has planned to supply another 1,000 million or 100 million cubic meter LNG, according to the sources.

Asked about the Managing Director of the Natural Gas Company Limited (MD) Md. Kamruzzaman said in the first light that the construction of the terminal and pipeline in Maheshkhali was completed in April. LNG will be started soon after.
A senior general manager of the company, however, told the first light on the condition of not disclosing that, plans to supply LNG from April 25. But there is a possibility of a slight delay. The final decision will be taken at the next meeting of the Ministry of Energy and Petrobangla.

It is known that at present, the country is producing about 2.69 million cubic feet of gas per day. Still, there is a gas crisis in the industrial sector. At present, the gas is sold at Tk 776/76 per cubic meter (35.3547 cubic feet) in the industrial sector. The proposed price of cigarettes after the LNG import-dated 14 Taka 90 paisa has been appreciated. In this, the cost of production of industrial goods will increase, said, traders. They demanded to adjust the prices of LNG prices with natural gas produced in the country.

Chittagong Chamber President Mahbubul Alam said, "The decision to supply LNG is very positive. This will reduce the gas crisis in the industrial sector. But the country needs to ensure gas supply at the same price throughout the country. Otherwise, the factories will not compete in the competition.

Meanwhile, a manager of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited said that as per the decision of supply of LNG, 265 industries in Chittagong region have been given the requisite documents.
