    Four G standard is right?

    Officially, the fourth generation (4G) telecommunication service will start on February 19 in the country. Mobile phone operators say that, when the service is launched, there will be major changes in the speed of the Internet. But there are many questions about the value of the third-generation (3G) service currently operational.
    According to experts, the quality of services will not be available from the introduction of four G without ensuring proper infrastructure. According to sector-related people, three things are the most important for providing four-way services. These are wireless waves, fiber optic network standards, and handsets. In three cases Bangladesh has not yet achieved the expected progress.

     According to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), operators also recognize the waves that are now in the hands of Grameenphone, Robi, and Banglalink. The BTRC organized a wave auction on Tuesday to remove the scarcity of operators. Grameenphone and Banglalink took part in the auction. For sale, 46.44 MHz waves were sold at auction, but it sold 15.6 MHz. That means two-thirds of the waves have remained undeclared.

    Operators say that they could not buy even more waves if they wanted due to higher prices. After launching 3G technology in 2013, all operators have invested Tk 32 billion in this sector in the last four years. On the contrary, they have withdrawn Tk 6 billion from the 3G. Already 5,500 crore taka has been lost for wave buying and technology neutrality. For the development of the network, at least two and a half years more than Tk 20 billion will be invested.

    Fiber optic network vulnerabilities across the country are also a big challenge for continuous four -G service. Although there are two submarine cable for supply of bandwidth, the expected bandwidth of these fibers is not available, due to the weakness of the fiber optic network. The mobile operators are not responsible for ensuring the infrastructure facilities. The sector-related people think that BTRC did not take sufficient steps to develop fiber-optic networks. Asked, Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh Secretary-General TI Nurul Kabir said, "Fiber optic delivery systems are very important to get good speed in the four-day competition. Only high-tech four-speed service with wireless waves can be found.

    According to the UK-based technology firm Open Signal, the average global speed of 4G technology is 16.6 Mbps (MEGBITS per second). In the neighboring country of India, the average speed of four-zero is currently 13.3 Mbps. In countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand, the speed of the four-wheeler is 9 to 14 Mbps.

    Operators and BTRC sources said that the average speed of the four-wheeler can be 7 to 10 Mbps in Bangladesh.
    Senior researcher Abu Saeed Khan, a telecommunication research institute, Larn Asia, said in the first light that the government has already fallen short on the mobile Internet speed in Bangladesh. In Myanmar where four-G subscribers are getting 500 Mbps (megabits per second), this speed will not be 20 Mbps in Bangladesh. There seems to be an unwritten agreement between regulatory agencies and operators to provide low-quality services. As mobile operators, the number of mobile handsets in the country is now 10 percent. Most of the handset users are in major cities like Dhaka, Chittagong.

    BTRC chairman Shahjahan Mahmud said in light of the overall situation, how much the quality of service after the introduction of F-G will be strictly seen. For this, a policy of quality of services has recently been finalized.
    Meanwhile, the government has allowed four mobile phone operators to license four-G services, which they will get on February 19. The approval came from the Postal and Telecommunications Department on Tuesday.  { Source }
